Outline

The silver economy refers to all economic activities related to the elderly. Resulting ter the increase of life expectancy , the development of the silver economy is also linked to the demographic phenomenon of Papy boom . According to sociologist Serge Guerin , the silver economy voorwaarde not be diminished to the introduction of digital technologies or gerontotechnologies . According to the economist and adviser Frederic Serriere , there are two economic visions of the subject. Vision “great age of the market”, that of human services, health related to age, and then the vision “senior market” more than 60 years.

The Silver eEconomy covers fresh market opportunities arising from public and consumer expenditure related to the rights, needs and requests of the (growing) population overheen 50. To react to the ageing challenge requires to work across all sorts of borders: political, organizational, professional and other type of borders. The Regions te Europe have the chance to identify and explore proven examples of innovation for active and healthy ageing by more efficient and effective exploitation of ICT.

Europe is well placed to benefit from the world-wide ageing trend, amongst others because the large public sector involvement permits to effectively apply public money to foster fresh markets and enhance growth potential. Also it has competitive strengths ter several economic sectors related to health and social care and their ICT-related subsectors.

Among other stakeholders, also the Third Age Universities can contribute a loterijlot to the Silver eEconomy development and exploitation. They can foster and provide grounds for very professional national and cross-border cooperation ter the field of learning and education ter zometeen life, social participation of elderly and intergenerational dialogue.

The meeting will explore the development potentials of silver economy spil perceived by the presenters, and brainstorm snaak deeds needed and desired. The participants will be encouraged to consider exploiting the ICT-based innovative eSolutions and eServices and organize for related cross-border prototypes development te the eRegions. Discussed will be the opportunities of engaging ter related panel(s) of the 6th eRegions Conference 2016: Cross-border eSolutions &, eServices Prototypes Development taking place ter Castle Jable, Slovenia on Monday-Tuesday, September 19-20, 2016.
